AIPA Week 2 Digital Technology 2 Evaluating an image. AIPA

AIPA.....

Go to the Photographer section and look for a photographer you can use as an artist model of your portfolio research.

The Artist I chose was ANAiS CHAINE

Evaluate one  of of their photographs

What do I see ?

Firstly I see a mirroring or shadow of the cliffs to the right, its almost a straight line . I see a beautiful sun set on the watery sand, then a mother and her child walking towards the sea , followed by the rock or sand dune leading me up to the sky.  The picture is not straight , I see the beautiful reflection of the sun in the sand perhaps it is late afternoon ?

What camera and compositional techniques have been used ?

Low angle , wide DOF , the picture is on a deliberate angle, shutter speed 80 - 125 actually the shutter speed could be lower if the photographer was using a tripod because you would need a bit more light I feel in this image.  Mum and child are on a 3rd of an intersection.

How does the image make me feel  ?

I can relate to this image, It reminds me of how I would  walk with  my children  on the beach and we  would spend a lot of time there and Kariotahis coast line is similar.

What ideas is this photographer working with  ?

WE have foreground/ mid /background.  This photograph takes us around the whole image , we have leading lines in the sand which takes us to the sea. Perhaps the photographer is lying down to get another perspective on the subject.  Taking this angle they get sand , sea and sky  . This image looks good having a low angle if the image was just straight on it could be alittle boring. The cliffs shadow is captured , we have a wide depth of field so we have everything in focus.

What genre does this photograph fit into.
It fits into Retail , family portraits.

Go to the resources section.

Look through the Find a Photo Assistant section

Who do you think has the best assistant profile and why ?

I think Jenna Tod has the best assistant profile.

She offers a lot of experience in different areas , she is located in the city close and convenient . She also offers an email and a website , some of the other assistants didn't offer a web site .

I had a toss up with Kate Van Der Drift she had a different approach by writing her profile out which was like a CV  very talented but she didn't have a web site which I think is important now days.

Go to the Contract and Forms section.

Why would you use such a form ?

I would use this to protect myself from unwanted law suites. By my model signing this I  am protected from  any future problems that could arise if the model changed their mind about showing their image or changing it .  Its a very good contract and I would use it and definitely recommend other to do so as well.

Download , save and read the AIPA license form.

Why would you use this form ?

This form gives your employer a peace of mind. This is a legal document and it gives your employer and yourself an insight into what you do and what you don't offer. There is a job description so everyone is clear as to what is expected . Theres choices so you can agree on the terms or not.
