Choose a over exposed shutter exercise photograph.
Crop to a 1-1 ratio and use the exposure slider and highlights slider to pull back and detail into over exposed areas. Then use the basic panel to make other adjustments the photo may need.

f/36 1.0 ISO 100
This was one of my shutter exercises. My lens wasn't working properly so my pictures weren't in focus through out the day. This was my over exposed shot. |
 |
| This is a screen shot of the changes I made. Obviously I couldn't take the out of focus and re focus it again but I got it looking a lot better. |
 |
| This is the result , a lot better than the over exposed image. |
Choose an image that is off centre and use the the crop tool to straighten this image.
 |
f/5.6 1/1,250 ISO 100
This is the image I took in the city and because I was in the car its not straight at all so I chose this image for this exercise. |
 |
| This was the first attempt |
 |
| The second attempt |
 |
| 3rd attempt |
 |
The final
And in this image I have lost the bottom of the image , the stairs and the entrance way. This was incredibly hard
I just couldn't get it. I lost patience as well haha. I have been straightening for a few years in iPhoto which is very simple , so this was a good challenge but one I have to practise a lot more with. |
Now reset your corrections,
by holding down the command key and clicking reset. Straighten the image using the Lens Correction panel.
 |
This is a screen shot of the original
But I lost this image and I have only the straightened one. I have no idea where I sent it. So luckily I had a screen shot that I worked from. |
 |
This is the final image using Lens Correction which was a lot easier for me. But I forgot to push done to get the complete finished product . I tried to go back but I couldn't get back into camera raw with this image.
I could perhaps of got another image but I just want to complete this exercise and catch up. I got the gist of it but definitely need to practise much more.
Use the Graduated Filter to adjust the exposure of the sky in an image of your choice . |
These images were done in week 2 on our tour of the Otara shopping centre.

f/3.5 1/1,250 ISO 100
Original image. |
 |
| My changed image , I love this colour |
I was trying to find the images I took showing how I got these colours but I can't find them.
I found the Graduated Filter to be difficult . Again more practise.
Choose a portrait photograph and use the Spot Removal tool to remove any blemishes. Make sure this image is straight.

f/5.6 1/80 Flash on ISO 800
Original photo of Victoria she has a lot of freckles and a blemish on her nose..
What a nightmare it was for me I had nose on eye , tongue on eye, hair in mouth , I didn't save those examples before I thought about that I had cleared the image . |
 |
| Another attempt I tried to take the nail polish off but I dented the nose and altered the cheek OMG |
 |
Final attempt
Nail polish stayed on but the face has less freckles and the blemish has gone. |
Take from the ISO test and choose the photo taken at my cameras highest ISO .
Use the Detail Panel to sharpen the photo and to reduce the noise in this image.
 |
| f/5.6 1/6 ISO 1600 |
 |
Image changed , just adjusted the noise slider and amount / radius and detail, luminance and colour.
Wow what difference. |
