Portfolio Week 1... Introduction to Portfolio

Pitch for Portfolio trajectory

Think about the following and post answers to these questions on to your blog.
You will also present your approach to your portfolio project in class Thursday.

1.  What is your genre ?

Editorial.....non fiction....Life......documentry ........candid street ? Personnal


Documentary photography usually refers to a popular form of photography used to chronicle both significant and historical events and everyday life. It is typically covered in professional photojournalism, or real life reportage, but it may also be an amateur, artistic, or academic pursuit. The photographer attempts to produce truthful, objective, and usually candid photography of a particular subject, most often pictures of people.



2.  What techniques and style will you incorporate for these photographs ?

I will incorporate colour , pets, night time shots , outside time in natural lighting with perhaps  wide DOF and  inside narrow DOF .  I would be  hoping to take candid shots of the household.  Maybe some staged shots with the kids.


3.  How will you approach research for this project ?

Now that I have found what Im going to do I will research other photographers that focus on taking family photographs in their  own homes. Im not looking for portraiture images. I will look in the library , on the internet , and pin interest.

ie ..................Richard Billington , Ana Westra perhaps Ann Geddes , actually she wont work for me as her photographs are new born babies.

I will also look  for other photographs I can  study , see  how they place people , lighting , time of the day,  the seasons , what works with families , inside the home. Documentary portraiture is another place that I have looked into just to see how they approach the subject.



4.  What is your plan for your first three weeks.

Take at least 20 shots per day of whats going on in our home .  Emotions , the fights, the happy times, angry times. Research different types of photography with families. Keep on researching on the internet .



LIBRARY RESEARCH EXERCISE

Go to the Creative Arts library and take out three books on a topic that relates to your portfolio project.  These books can be about technique , photographers , . How you are working in your chosen genre or theory relating to your chosen genre.



Reference at least one of these books when you introduce your Portfolio project in class and also on your blog.
