WEEK 2 APERTURE AND EXERCISES AND RESEARCH

CAMERA USE WEEK 2  : APERTURE

A little note to add... I had erased my photos accidentally so I lost all my images to this exercise so I had to redo them.

CAMERA   SETTING .....APERTURE ( AV )

Quality setting :   RAW

White balance  :   AUTO

ISO : 100 if shooting outside in bright light, 400 if shooting inside.

APERTURE  is measured in F STOPS f/

EXERCISE 1..

TAKE  LANDSCAPE PHOTOS  WITH A WIDE DOF.

This is my understanding

A wide depth of field is a landscape photo that is completely in focus , or a large area such as a building site, a Forrest, a beach etc.

Small numbers are large apertures ( F stops ) These relate to a greater depth of field  WIDE( DOF ). A large area of the image in focus.

Large numbers are small apertures ( F stops ) These relate to a SHALLOW DOF with a blurred background.

For example :   f/5.6    is a shallow DOF blurred back ground

f/10      is a back ground in focus  slightly more

f/32      is a wide DOF background totally in focus

HIGH F STOPS f/32 f/29 etc produce lots of detail, everything is in focus

This is a self directed shot of a landscape at home.

f/32  1/2   ISO 100
This shot was taken at home but not with the class 50 ml lens
This shot was taken with a tripod allowing the picture to  stay in focus as I had a slow shutter speed and  because I shot this picture with a f/32  (aperture ) the whole shot would be in focus. ISO normal for outside as it was morning there was enough light to catch this scene .

f/22  1/5 shutter speed ISO 100

This shot was done properly with the class 50 ml lens and on the correct setting of AV
